Today we had a fantastic trip to Porteau Cove Provincial Park!
We were so lucky with the weather. In the morning,we broke into 7 groups and did a scavenger hunt along the beach. The student were to draw the objects when we found them. We found crabs, mussels, snails, barnacles, blennies, sculpins, seaweeds, and algae. We also looked to signs of humans on the beach (old batteries, glass, plastic garbage etc).
We had our lunches at 11:30. After lunch we walked down to the outdoor stage area and had an impromptu concert. A number of students volunteered to go up on stage and entertain us with songs, skits, jokes and gymnastics. Then we went back down to the beach and started our survival activities. The students divided themselves into groups and built a driftwood shelter, a fire pit and some sort of help or SOS signal. We had 11 groups and all of them were able to meet the 3 criteria and survive!!!. Mr. Rempel came and joined us in the afternoon and brought hot chocolate for everyone. Thank you so much! We made it back jut before 3pm.
**Remember tomorrow is our second Collection Day and the Appreciation Tea is after school.

Hello parents.
Today we:

- had a class discussion about students entering the classroom before the bell rings in the morning. Please ensure that your children either go to the library or wait outside. Students are not permitted in the classrooms unsupervised and some students have been coming in and hanging out in the coat room where no one can see them. This is a safety concern and the children are aware that they must stay out of the classroom until the bell rings. If you would like to meet with me or Mrs. Carson please feel free to stop by the classroom, phone us and set up an appointment, or pop us an email.
- went to music with Mrs. Thomson
- had a wonderful assemby with TapCo company where we watched youth perform tap dances. The students were very intriqued by this and practiced "tap dancing" at lunch.
- wrote letters to our penpals from Dubai
- worked on Art. Today we worked with oil and chalk pastels to create flowers like Georgia O'Keeffe
